Be the change you wish to see in the world

Therapy can be a frightening experience. Sharing personal information with an unfamiliar person leaves one feeling vulnerable. Therapy should not be a frightening experience, in fact it should be rewarding, fulfilling, and challenging. Therapy should be a journey into your human spirit where you are supported and healed at your pace. Healing happens when you are emotionally ready to discover the aspects of the self that has not yet been revealed.
My approach to therapy is holistic. I incorporate mind, body, and spirit into treatment using natural interventions according to your ethnic and cultural background. As an expressive therapist I incorporate art, dance, play, sand, dreams, yoga, poetry, meditation, and mindfulness into the therapy. The idea behind these modalities is to help you access strengths from within to help you on your therapeutic journey!
Theoretical Background
My education and training was in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). However, I work from a psychodynamic perspective incorporating CBT and family systems.
As a play therapist I was trained in child-centered therapy, a humanistic approach to treatment. I use child-centered theory as the treatment foundation for play therapy; however, I incorporate directive modality techniques to meet the child where he/she is in order to enhance his/her inner strengths.
